A New Twist in Competitive Messaging Services
Telegram adds Stories for Premium subscribers. Users can now post photographs and videos that can either be pinned permanently to their accounts or made to expire quickly on the messaging app.
Following CEO Pavel Durov's announcement last month that the function was under testing (via 9to5Mac), Telegram's new Stories feature, which allows users to post momentary films and photographs, is now available. Only the company's paid Premium subscribers can upload Telegram Stories.
The competitor messaging services WhatsApp (with status updates) and even Signal had already released their versions before introducing Telegram Stories. Although he acknowledged some internal skepticism about the value of Stories, Durov said that the team "can no longer imagine Telegram without it."
